DJ Of The Week: Alesso
Alessandro Linblad, better known as Alesso, is one of the biggest rising stars in EDM world. Specialising in progressive house, he has amazed EDMers all over the globe with his unique style of music. Born 7 July 1991 in Stockholm, Sweden, Alesso made his big break worldwide in 2011 with the massive track "Calling" who he collaborated with none other than Sebastian Ingrosso. So where did it all begin for this young superstar?
Alesso started playing the piano at a young age, and thus grew up with music in his background. In his mid teens, Alesso was introduced to house music by a friend and was instantly hooked. At the age of 16 he started producing music. This is when he decided that music was what he wanted to do therefore he did all he could to learn the art of music production by himself and with the help of youtube videos. In 2010, Alesso had been signed to Joia Records where he released his debut tracks.
In November of 2010, Alesso met with Sebastian Ingrosso's father, whom he gave a CD with some of his tracks. Ingrosso's dad then gave the CD to his son, who was absolutely impressed by the music and was keen to meet Alesso. The two soon met and Alesso was taken under the wing of one of the biggest dj/producers in the world. Alesso and Sebastion Ingrosso soon broke out with the epic track, "Calling", which catapulted Alesso's career. A string of hits soon followed the young Swedish producer such as "Raise Your Head", "Nillionaire", "Years" and "Clash" to name a few. He has also done various remixes for established artists like, Swedish House Mafia, Nadia Ali, Tiesto, Sander van Doorn, One Republic etc. His remix for "Pressure" gained massive popularity and was one of the most played EDM tunes back in 2011. It was one of the biggest remixes of the track, and now "If I Lose Myself" follows the same success, even bigger success I'd say.
Alesso's music is highly influenced by Swedish House Mafia and many acoustic artists such as Coldplay and Adele. In 2011, Alesso made his debut into DJ Mags top 100 list at the 70th position. In 2012, he climbed to the 20th position of the list. He is definitely one to keep watch on in terms of his music. He is still growing, learning and perfecting his sound and style. Without a doubt he is a legend in the making. Lots more to come from Alesso.
