So this post is for all the ignorant people out there that is unaware of the greater meaning behind Electronic Dance Music. Many people who know nothing about EDM or the PLUR scene/lifestyle in general would characterise EDM to be all about partying, alcohol and drug use when that is not the case. EDM is about more than just dance, it is the music genre that was started and created to spread messages of Peace, Love, Hope, Generosity and most all unity. EDM is the central wiring point of all EDM fanatics. It is the thing that instantly draws us to each other and it is who we are.

As we all know today House music is a sub-genre of Electronic Dance Music that originated in the beautiful city of Chicago in the early 1980’s. Ever since then the music genre soon spread and developed in other major cities of America and eventually spreading internationally.

The beautiful and talented queen of pop, Lady Gaga recently released her latest new studio album ARTPOP that was co-produced by world known EDM producers like Zedd and Madeon. The first track at the top of the tracklist from Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP is the Eastern/Burqa inspired AURA. Behind all the explicit vocals this song possesses a deeper meaning that invites you to see the true Gaga, the girl behind the material things, “the girl behind the Aura”.

The EDM category that originally started in 2012, “Favourite Artist, Electronic Dance Music” which was first won by David Guetta at the time, this year went to the EDM powerhouse Avicii. With a Hype Machine-trending collaboration with Kaskade, a supporting slot on Morgan Page's North American tour and a new original called 'Motionless' released more than a week ago, it's safe to say that Project 46 are having their best year ever. And for a duo that's only been on the scene since 2012 and have already broken into the DJ Mag Top 100, it's a year that would exceed the expectations of even the most established artist.

This is what I believe the EDM community express, total freedom. It does not matter what race, social status or sexual preference you might have. Everyone is free to be themselves in the EDM scene.

The EDM community has grown to be more than just a typical so-called "scene", we are a family. A family that promotes freedom of expression. You are free to be you and only you. This community presents acceptance unto everyone and that's where the PLUR elements come into action.
I without a doubt feel free to be me when I'm with my EDM-family because we bare no hatred or unfair judgement towards one another. We believe in the 4 elements of our universal mantra PLUR and that's how we live our lives.
